The Software Engineer role is focused on the design, development, and optimization of database solutions that power critical business applications. The ideal candidate will work closely with crossβfunctional teamsβproduct managers, application developers, and data analystsβto translate complex requirements into scalable, highβperformance SQL and PostgreSQL implementations. This position demands a proactive mindset, the ability to own endβtoβend delivery, and a passion for continuous improvement in data engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
2. Build scalable database architectures with a strong emphasis on performance and reliability.
3. Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize slowβrunning queries and overall database workloads.
4. Create and evolve database schemas that adapt to changing business needs.
5. Develop ETL pipelines and automate routine database operations using Python scripting.
6. Collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet functional and nonβfunctional requirements.
7. Enforce data quality, integrity, security, and privacy best practices.
8. Review and refactor existing SQL code for maintainability and efficiency.
9. Participate in technical discussions, propose innovative solutions, and evaluate alternative approaches.
10. Stay updated with emerging database technologies and recommend strategic improvements.
Tech Stack: SQL, PostgreSQL, PL/SQL, Python, Database Schema Design, Query Optimization, Performance Tuning, GIS (PostGIS), Git, CI/CD pipelines, Cloud database platforms.
Growth Path: Starting as a Software Engineer, high performers can progress to Senior Engineer, Lead Database Architect, and eventually to Database Engineering Manager or Solutions Architect, with opportunities to lead largeβscale data transformation projects.
