With a presence in more than 175 countries, Oracle helps enterprises modernise their IT landscape, accelerate digital transformation and deliver innovative solutions that touch billions of lives. In India, Oracle operates large development centres in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other tech hubs, offering fresh graduates a chance to work on cuttingβedge platforms that power everything from financial services to healthcare.
As an Application Software Engineer 1, you will join the software engineering division and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of Oracleβs enterprise applications. The role is ideal for recent graduates with a solid foundation in computer science concepts and a passion for building reliable, scalable software. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, participate in requirementβgathering sessions with clients, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Enhancing existing software applications within Oracleβs established architecture.
2. Designing and developing new reports, handling data extraction via SQL, processing, and visualisation.
3. Gathering functional requirements, estimating effort, and planning execution.
4. Interacting with clients and stakeholders to clarify expectations and ensure delivery quality.
5. Contributing to componentβlevel design discussions and documenting technical decisions.
6. Debugging issues, performing rootβcause analysis, and documenting resolutions.
7. Suggesting process improvements to streamline development and operations.
8. Supporting software releases and postβdeployment monitoring.
9. Learning and applying Oracleβs healthcare workflow and Millennium data model.
10. Maintaining version control, writing unit tests, and adhering to coding standards.
The tech stack revolves around SQL/PLβSQL, relational databases, and programming languages such as Python, Java or C++. Familiarity with Git, unitβtesting frameworks, and basic BI tools (Tableau, Power Insight) is advantageous. Oracle encourages continuous learning; you will have access to internal training, mentorship programs, and a clear growth path from IC1 to senior engineering roles, leading eventually to architect or product leadership positions.
Why join Oracle? Apart from a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, you gain exposure to largeβscale, missionβcritical systems used by Fortuneβ500 customers. The companyβs culture promotes innovation, collaboration, and diversity, offering a supportive environment for fresh talent to thrive and make a tangible impact on global technology.
Overall, this role offers a balanced mix of technical challenges, client interaction, and professional development, making it an excellent launchpad for a longβterm career in software engineering.
