Lumilens is an emerging player in the optical communications and photonics industry, delivering high‑performance optical transceivers, modules and networking solutions to global telecom operators and data‑center providers. With a strong focus on research‑driven product development, the company blends cutting‑edge silicon photonics with robust hardware engineering to create next‑generation optical products. As part of its rapid expansion, Lumilens runs an Early Talent Programme to attract fresh engineering graduates who can contribute to its innovative test and validation ecosystem. The Software Test Automation Engineer (also termed Optical Product Test Engineer – Software Automation) will sit at the crossroads of software development, networking, and optical hardware testing. The role is crafted for 2025‑2026 graduates from electronics, ECE, computer engineering, computer science, telecommunications or related streams. Engineers will design, develop, and maintain Python‑based automation frameworks that interact directly with optical devices, network switches and traffic generators. They will also support high‑volume manufacturing test stations, ensuring that every optical component meets stringent performance and reliability criteria. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Design and implement Python test automation frameworks for functional, regression and performance testing of Layer‑1 and Layer‑2 optical systems. 2. Develop and execute test scripts using IXIA traffic generators to validate throughput, latency, packet loss and error rates. 3. Integrate laboratory instruments (optical oscilloscopes, power meters, switches) via NI‑VISA, SCPI, RS‑232 or TCP/IP for automated data acquisition. 4. Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to debug defects, reproduce issues and drive root‑cause analysis. 5. Maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/ArgoCD) to trigger automated test suites on code or firmware changes. 6. Manage test artefacts, version control (GitHub/Bitbucket/SVN) and ensure traceability of test results. 7. Create and update comprehensive test documentation, including test cases, results, and defect logs. 8. Work with SQL/NoSQL databases to store test data and generate analytical reports for manufacturing quality. 9. Participate in cross‑functional design reviews, providing feedback on testability and manufacturability. 10. Continuously explore emerging optical testing tools and propose improvements to the automation stack. **Tech Stack:** Python, pytest, Jenkins/ArgoCD, Git, IXIX, NI‑VISA, SCPI, RS‑232, TCP/IP, SQL/NoSQL, Shell scripting, Optical instrumentation. **Growth Path:** Starting as an Associate Engineer, high performers can progress to Senior Test Automation Engineer, Test Lead, or move into Product Validation, R&D, or Systems Engineering roles within Lumilens. **Why Join Lumilens?** The company offers exposure to state‑of‑the‑art optical hardware, a fast‑paced learning environment, and the chance to shape testing strategies for products that power global networks. Fresh graduates gain hands‑on experience with industry‑grade tools, mentorship from seasoned engineers, and a clear career trajectory in a high‑growth technology sector.

What is the difference between Implicit Wait, Explicit Wait, and Fluent Wait in Selenium? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: Implicit Wait sets a global timeout for all element lookups. Explicit Wait pauses execution until a specific ExpectedCondition (e.g. elementToBeClickable) is met. Fluent Wait allows defining polling frequency and ignoring specific exceptions like NoSuchElementException.
Explain the Page Object Model (POM) and its advantages in Test Automation. Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: POM is a design pattern that creates an object repository for web UI elements. It separates test scripts from page locators, reducing code duplication and making maintenance easy when UI elements change.
How do you handle dynamic WebElements whose ID changes on page reload? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: Use dynamic XPath methods like contains(), starts-with(), text(), or XPath axes (ancestor, following-sibling, parent) instead of brittle absolute paths.
What is the difference between @BeforeMethod and @BeforeClass in TestNG? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: @BeforeClass runs once before the first test method in the current class, while @BeforeMethod executes before each individual test method.
How do you validate REST API response codes and JSON payload using Postman / RestAssured? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: In RestAssured: given().when().get('/endpoint').then().assertThat().statusCode(200).body('status', equalTo('ACTIVE')).
