Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Lumilens is an emerging player in the optical communications and photonics industry, delivering highβperformance optical transceivers, modules and networking solutions to global telecom operators and dataβcenter providers. With a strong focus on researchβdriven product development, the company blends cuttingβedge silicon photonics with robust hardware engineering to create nextβgeneration optical products. As part of its rapid expansion, Lumilens runs an Early Talent Programme to attract fresh engineering graduates who can contribute to its innovative test and validation ecosystem.
The Software Test Automation Engineer (also termed Optical Product Test Engineer β Software Automation) will sit at the crossroads of software development, networking, and optical hardware testing. The role is crafted for 2025β2026 graduates from electronics, ECE, computer engineering, computer science, telecommunications or related streams. Engineers will design, develop, and maintain Pythonβbased automation frameworks that interact directly with optical devices, network switches and traffic generators. They will also support highβvolume manufacturing test stations, ensuring that every optical component meets stringent performance and reliability criteria.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Design and implement Python test automation frameworks for functional, regression and performance testing of Layerβ1 and Layerβ2 optical systems.
2. Develop and execute test scripts using IXIA traffic generators to validate throughput, latency, packet loss and error rates.
3. Integrate laboratory instruments (optical oscilloscopes, power meters, switches) via NIβVISA, SCPI, RSβ232 or TCP/IP for automated data acquisition.
4. Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to debug defects, reproduce issues and drive rootβcause analysis.
5. Maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/ArgoCD) to trigger automated test suites on code or firmware changes.
6. Manage test artefacts, version control (GitHub/Bitbucket/SVN) and ensure traceability of test results.
7. Create and update comprehensive test documentation, including test cases, results, and defect logs.
8. Work with SQL/NoSQL databases to store test data and generate analytical reports for manufacturing quality.
9. Participate in crossβfunctional design reviews, providing feedback on testability and manufacturability.
10. Continuously explore emerging optical testing tools and propose improvements to the automation stack.
**Tech Stack:** Python, pytest, Jenkins/ArgoCD, Git, IXIX, NIβVISA, SCPI, RSβ232, TCP/IP, SQL/NoSQL, Shell scripting, Optical instrumentation.
**Growth Path:** Starting as an Associate Engineer, high performers can progress to Senior Test Automation Engineer, Test Lead, or move into Product Validation, R&D, or Systems Engineering roles within Lumilens.
**Why Join Lumilens?** The company offers exposure to stateβofβtheβart optical hardware, a fastβpaced learning environment, and the chance to shape testing strategies for products that power global networks. Fresh graduates gain handsβon experience with industryβgrade tools, mentorship from seasoned engineers, and a clear career trajectory in a highβgrowth technology sector.
