Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Tech Mahindra, a global leader in digital transformation, consulting and business reβengineering services, has built a reputation for delivering cuttingβedge solutions across industries such as telecom, automotive, BFSI, and healthcare. With a presence in more than 90 countries and a workforce of over 130,000 professionals, the company fosters a culture of continuous learning, innovation and customer centricity. As part of its Graduate Trainee programme, Tech Mahindra offers fresh engineering graduates an accelerated entry point into the world of highβimpact product development and system integration.
The Graduate Trainee role is designed for candidates from Mechanical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering backgrounds who are eager to apply theoretical knowledge to realβworld challenges. Trainees will be posted at Tech Mahindra development centres in Chennai, Pune or Bangalore and will work on a variety of client projects ranging from manufacturing automation to power distribution systems. The programme combines classroom training, onβtheβjob mentorship and exposure to crossβfunctional teams, ensuring a holistic development experience.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Designing mechanical components, assemblies and systems using industryβstandard CAD tools.
2. Preparing detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.
3. Conducting performance analysis, FEA and GD&T checks to validate designs.
4. Supporting manufacturing, installation and commissioning activities on the shop floor.
5. Performing rootβcause analysis for equipment failures and recommending corrective actions.
6. Driving costβreduction initiatives and improving production efficiency.
7. Ensuring compliance with safety standards, industry codes and internal quality procedures.
8. Collaborating with production, quality, procurement and maintenance teams.
9. Preparing technical documentation, reports and design specifications.
10. Evaluating new materials, technologies and manufacturing methods for potential adoption.
The technical stack revolves around CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo and Siemens NX, complemented by simulation tools for FEA and GD&T. Trainees will also gain exposure to electrical design software, circuit simulation, and power system analysis tools.
Career growth is structured: after a 6βmonth probation, successful trainees can progress to Engineer β Design, Engineer β Validation, or Project Engineer roles, with clear pathways to senior engineering and managerial positions. The programmeβs blend of technical depth, crossβfunctional exposure and mentorship makes it an ideal launchpad for ambitious graduates seeking a fastβtrack engineering career at a globally recognised IT services firm.
Why join? Apart from a competitive CTC of 3.25β―LPA, the role offers handsβon experience with leadingβedge technologies, a vibrant learning environment, and the chance to work on projects that shape the future of manufacturing and power systems across India and abroad.
