
Eligibility Criteria
Bachelorโs degree (B.E, B.Tech or B.Sc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication or related engineering discipline. Minimum 1 year of professional experience in software/platform engineering, preferably with Java/J2EE. No minimum CGPA/percentage specified; candidates should have a clean academic record with no pending backlogs at the time of application. Fresh graduates who have completed internships meeting the experience criteria are also eligible. Applications are open to candidates from the 2025, 2024 or earlier batches, provided they meet the experience requirement.

The Automation Engineer (Java Focus) role is a core part of Caterpillarโs system modernization programme. As a fresh graduate with at least one year of handsโon software experience, you will join a collaborative team of developers, architects and DevOps engineers to design, develop and maintain highโperformance Javaโbased services. Your dayโtoโday work will involve writing clean, secure code, building RESTful APIs, integrating with databases, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines. **Key Responsibilities**
1. Design, develop and deliver enterpriseโgrade Java microโservices following bestโpractice coding standards.
2. Implement REST APIs using Spring Boot and ensure robust error handling and security.
3. Write efficient dataโaccess layers with JPA/Hibernate and optimise SQL queries.
4. Participate in peer code reviews, provide constructive feedback and adopt continuous improvement practices.
5. Collaborate with senior architects and product owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
6. Support legacy system migration and modernisation initiatives.
7. Work closely with DevOps teams to automate builds, tests and deployments using Maven/Gradle and Git.
8. Diagnose production issues, perform rootโcause analysis and deliver timely fixes.
9. Explore and prototype automation techniques, container technologies (Docker) and cloud services to enhance development velocity.
10. Contribute to documentation, knowledgeโsharing sessions and technical workshops.
