Job Description & Key Responsibilities
GreyOrange is a global robotics and automation company that designs, builds and operates autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and robotic solutions for warehouses, manufacturing and logistics. With a presence in over 20 countries, the company focuses on delivering endβtoβend automation solutions that improve productivity, reduce costs and enable safer working environments. The Gurugram office is a key hub for product development, quality engineering and customer support, and it plays a pivotal role in ensuring that GreyOrangeβs robotic platforms meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.
The Graduate Engineer Trainee β Firmware Quality Assurance role is an entryβlevel position that offers fresh graduates and earlyβcareer engineers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of embedded firmware, robotics and quality engineering. As a Firmware QA engineer, you will validate firmware releases for robots, controllers, sensors and VDA systems before they reach Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer deployment. You will collaborate closely with Firmware, Electronics, Software, Product Engineering and Quality teams to identify defects, reproduce issues, validate fixes and improve overall firmware quality.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Test and validate embedded firmware releases prior to FAT and site deployment.
2. Perform firmwareβlevel checks on robots, controllers, sensors and VDA systems.
3. Identify firmware defects and reproduce reported issues.
4. Provide clear debugging information to the Firmware team.
5. Validate bug fixes and conduct regression testing before firmware releases.
6. Review firmware release and change logs to ensure comprehensive testing.
7. Debug firmware issues using logs, diagnostic tools and communication interfaces.
8. Troubleshoot CAN, UART, RSβ232/RSβ485, Ethernet and other communication protocols.
9. Support rootβcause analysis to determine whether issues originate from firmware, electronics, communication or software.
10. Maintain defect trackers, test results, logs and firmware validation reports.
Tech stack: Embedded systems (microcontrollers, firmware architecture), C/C++ programming, communication protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, RSβ232, RSβ485, Ethernet), debugging tools (CAN analyzers, serial terminals, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers), defect tracking (JIRA), Microsoft Office for documentation.
Growth path: Starting as a Firmware QA trainee, you can progress to Firmware QA Engineer, Firmware Test Lead, Firmware Quality Manager or move into Firmware Development, Product Engineering or Robotics Integration roles. GreyOrangeβs culture of continuous learning, mentorship and crossβfunctional collaboration provides ample opportunities for skill development and career advancement.
Why join GreyOrange? The company offers a dynamic work environment where you can contribute to cuttingβedge robotics solutions that transform industries. Youβll work with talented engineers, gain handsβon experience with realβworld firmware and robotics challenges, and be part of a mission to make automation accessible and impactful worldwide.
