About the role

Certa is an emerging technology startup focused on building next‑generation digital products for enterprises across India. Founded by a group of seasoned engineers, the company combines deep domain expertise in cloud services, AI‑enabled platforms, and user‑centric design to deliver end‑to‑end solutions that help businesses accelerate their digital transformation journeys. With a fast‑growing client base ranging from fintech firms to e‑commerce giants, Certa has cultivated a culture of rapid innovation, collaborative problem‑solving, and continuous learning.

The organization prides itself on a flat hierarchy, where every team member, irrespective of seniority, can contribute ideas that shape product road‑maps.

The Frontend Engineer Internship is a six‑month, fully remote opportunity designed for fresh graduates and final‑year students who are passionate about building beautiful, performant web interfaces. Interns will work side‑by‑side with senior frontend and backend engineers, gaining hands‑on experience in translating high‑fidelity Figma designs into production‑ready React components. The role offers exposure to the complete product lifecycleβ€”from requirement gathering and API integration to testing, deployment, and post‑release monitoring.

Successful interns may receive a Pre‑Placement Offer (PPO) for a full‑time position based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop reusable, modular UI components using React.js and TypeScript.
  • Convert Figma mockups into pixel‑perfect, responsive web pages.
  • Integrate RESTful APIs, handle error states, and manage asynchronous data flows.
  • Optimize page load times and overall performance using code‑splitting, lazy loading, and memoization techniques.
  • Write unit and integration tests for components with Jest and React Testing Library.
  • Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG) and cross‑browser compatibility.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to define API contracts and data schemas.
  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to the team’s coding standards, and document implementation details.
  • Use version control (Git) and follow CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments.
  • Stay updated with the latest frontend trends, tools, and best practices, leveraging AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot.

Tech Stack: React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3 (Flexbox, Grid), Styled‑Components or Tailwind CSS, Jest, React Testing Library, Git, GitHub Actions, Figma.

Growth Path: Interns who excel can transition to a Junior Frontend Engineer role, followed by progression to Mid‑Level Engineer, Lead Engineer, and eventually Frontend Architect. The company encourages continuous upskilling through mentorship, internal tech talks, and sponsored certifications.

Why Join Certa?

  • Work on real‑world, production‑grade features that impact thousands of users.
  • Direct mentorship from senior engineers with industry‑level experience.
  • Flexible remote work setup with a supportive, inclusive culture.
  • Clear pathway to full‑time employment and competitive compensation.
  • Exposure to modern development practices, AI‑assisted coding, and a vibrant tech community.

Technical questions 4
What is the bias-variance tradeoff and how do you prevent overfitting? Answer
Model answer: High bias leads to underfitting (oversimplified model), high variance leads to overfitting (captures noise). Mitigate using L1/L2 Regularization, Dropout, Cross-Validation, and data augmentation.
Explain the difference between Precision, Recall, and F1-Score. Answer
Model answer: Precision = TP / (TP + FP) (correctness of positive predictions). Recall = TP / (TP + FN) (coverage of actual positives). F1-Score is the harmonic mean of Precision and Recall.
How does Gradient Descent work and what is the role of Learning Rate? Answer
Model answer: It optimizes loss functions by iteratively moving weights in the direction of negative gradient. A large learning rate may overshoot the minimum; a small rate causes slow convergence.
What is the difference between Supervised, Unsupervised, and Self-Supervised learning? Answer
Model answer: Supervised uses labeled data (X -> y). Unsupervised finds hidden patterns in unlabeled data (clustering/PCA). Self-supervised generates labels from input data (e.g. masked language modeling in BERT/Transformers).
Behavioural & HR questions 3
