About the role

Enterpret is an emerging AI‑driven analytics platform that helps enterprises turn unstructured data such as customer calls, chats, and emails into actionable insights. Founded by a team of seasoned data scientists and engineers, the company leverages natural language processing, machine learning, and cloud‑native architectures to deliver real‑time sentiment analysis, intent detection, and trend forecasting. With offices in Bengaluru and a growing client base across fintech, e‑commerce, and telecom, Enterpret is positioned as a fast‑growing startup that values innovation, collaboration, and rapid product delivery.

The Backend Software Engineering Intern role is designed for enthusiastic computer science or engineering students who want to gain hands‑on experience building scalable, serverless backend services. Working closely with senior engineers, the intern will contribute to core product features, integrate AI models into APIs, and help maintain high‑performance data pipelines. This internship offers exposure to modern cloud technologies, mentorship from industry experts, and the possibility of a Pre‑Placement Offer (PPO) based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend components using AWS serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.).
  • Implement RESTful APIs that expose AI‑powered functionalities to front‑end applications.
  • Participate in system design discussions, contribute to architecture decisions, and document technical solutions.
  • Write clean, testable code in Python or Node.js and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Conduct unit, integration, and performance testing to guarantee reliability and low latency.
  • Debug production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and propose optimizations.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to integrate machine‑learning models into the backend workflow.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Maintain proper version control, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Stay updated with emerging serverless patterns and suggest improvements.

Tech Stack: AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, Python, Node.js, Docker, Git, CI/CD, REST/GraphQL, basic ML model serving.

Growth Path: Successful interns may receive a full‑time offer as a Backend Engineer, with clear career ladders toward senior engineering, architecture, or AI‑focused roles. The environment encourages learning, cross‑functional collaboration, and ownership of end‑to‑end features.

Why Join Enterpret: You will work on cutting‑edge AI products that impact real business decisions, receive mentorship from seasoned engineers, and be part of a vibrant startup culture that rewards curiosity and impact. The on‑site Bengaluru office provides a collaborative atmosphere with regular tech talks, hackathons, and opportunities to interact directly with product and data teams.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in Python. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
