With a presence in over 50 countries, the company helps Fortune 500 clients navigate complex business challenges through innovative solutions. In India, Capgemini has built a strong reputation for nurturing talent, offering structured career paths, and delivering cuttingβedge projects across domains such as banking, manufacturing, and IoT. The Bangalore delivery centre is a hub for technology excellence, housing thousands of engineers who work on nextβgeneration platforms and industrial automation solutions.
The role of Automation Test Engineer is designed for engineers who enjoy blending software testing with industrial communication protocols. Reporting to the QA Lead, the engineer will design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Python and Playwright, while also creating test suites for Modbus RTU/TCP based systems. The position demands a solid grasp of software testing fundamentals, API validation, and the ability to work closely with firmware, hardware, and cloud teams to ensure endβtoβend quality.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Design and implement reusable automation libraries in Python for web UI and API testing using Playwright.
2. Develop and execute test cases for Modbus RTU/TCP communication, validating data exchange between devices, controllers, gateways and cloud services.
3. Perform functional, integration, regression and endβtoβend testing across the product lifecycle.
4. Create and maintain test data, mock services, and test environments for reliable execution.
5. Analyse test results, log defects, and collaborate with development teams for rootβcause analysis.
6. Generate test reports, dashboards and quality metrics for stakeholder visibility.
7. Participate in code reviews of test scripts to ensure maintainability and adherence to best practices.
8. Contribute to continuous improvement of the testing process, suggesting new tools or frameworks where appropriate.
9. Mentor junior QA members on automation best practices and protocol testing techniques.
10. Stay updated with emerging testing tools, Python libraries, and industry standards.
The tech stack revolves around Python, Playwright, RESTful APIs, Modbus RTU/TCP, Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/ Azure DevOps) and test management tools like JIRA/Zephyr. Capgemini offers a clear growth path β from Automation Engineer to Senior Engineer, Test Lead, and eventually Solution Architect or Delivery Manager. The companyβs emphasis on learning, certifications, and internal mobility makes it an attractive destination for fresh talent. Joining Capgemini means exposure to global projects, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and a culture that rewards innovation and collaboration.
