Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Razorpay is one of India’s leading fintech platforms, enabling millions of merchants to accept payments, manage payouts, and automate financial workflows. Founded in 2014, the company has built a robust ecosystem of products that span payment gateways, subscription billing, and banking‑as‑a‑service. With a culture that prizes rapid experimentation, data‑driven decision making, and deep customer empathy, Razorpay has consistently been recognized as a top workplace for engineers and product innovators. The firm’s mission to simplify commerce for every Indian business drives a relentless focus on building reliable, scalable, and secure solutions that can handle billions of transactions each year.
The Forward‑Deployed Engineer (FDE) role sits at the intersection of engineering, consulting, and product adoption. As an FDE in the Agent Studio team, you will partner directly with merchants to understand their unique workflows, translate business problems into technical specifications, and deliver end‑to‑end solutions that integrate Razorpay’s APIs into their existing stacks. The position demands a blend of hands‑on coding, architectural design, and strong communication skills, as you will be the technical voice of the customer within Razorpay and the bridge between product teams and real‑world use cases.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting discovery sessions with merchants to map their payment and reconciliation processes.
2. Translating business requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.
3. Building custom integrations, scripts, or micro‑services using Razorpay’s APIs.
4. Writing production‑grade code, unit tests, and documentation to ensure maintainability.
5. Measuring the impact of deployed solutions through metrics such as transaction success rate, latency, and revenue uplift.
6. Providing post‑deployment support, troubleshooting, and iterative improvements.
7. Collaborating with product, security, and compliance teams to ensure solutions meet regulatory standards.
8. Contributing to internal knowledge bases and best‑practice guides for future deployments.
9. Mentoring junior engineers and sharing insights from field engagements.
10. Continuously gathering feedback to influence roadmap priorities for Agent Studio.
The tech stack typically involves Python or TypeScript for backend services, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, OAuth, and rate‑limit handling is essential. Growth paths include moving into senior engineering leadership, product management, or specialized solution‑architect roles within Razorpay’s expanding ecosystem. Joining Razorpay offers the chance to work on high‑impact problems, interact directly with a diverse set of merchants, and accelerate your career in a fast‑moving fintech environment that rewards innovation and customer obsession.
