
Eligibility Criteria
Bachelorβs degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Graduate/entryβlevel candidate with a strong interest in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Minimum 60% marks in final year (if applicable). No backlog policy specified; however, a clean academic record is preferred.

The Graduate Engineer Trainee β Lean / Continuous Improvement role is a handsβon internship that places you at the heart of the GE BEL plantβs manufacturing operations. You will learn and apply Lean principles, Kaizen methodologies, and continuous improvement tools to drive productivity, quality, and safety across the production line. Working closely with shop floor operators, frontline leaders, and crossβfunctional teams, you will identify waste, streamline processes, and convert employee ideas into measurable results.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting and driving Lean behaviors and tools across the plant.
2. Engaging shop floor employees to generate improvement ideas.
3. Coordinating review and implementation of approved ideas with stakeholders.
4. Acting as a central point for Lean activities and guiding 5β6 supporting resources.
5. Scheduling and facilitating Kaizen walkthroughs and events.
6. Translating improvement ideas into actionable plans with local support.
7. Maintaining the Daily Management System (DMS) and tracking key metrics.
8. Collecting, consolidating, and analyzing operational data to inform improvement priorities.
9. Preparing dashboards, reports, and presentations for operational reviews.
10. Following up on improvement actions to ensure timely closure.
The role requires a bachelorβs degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, a strong interest in Lean manufacturing, and basic analytical and communication skills. Exposure to Kaizen, waste elimination, and structured problemβsolving is highly desirable. You will gain handsβon experience in process improvement, dataβdriven decision making, and stakeholder managementβskills that are highly transferable across manufacturing, operations, and consulting.
Growth path: Successful trainees can progress to roles such as Lean Engineer, Continuous Improvement Lead, or Manufacturing Engineer, with opportunities to move into global projects or product development teams.
