Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Onsurity is a rapidly growing employee wellness platform that redefines workplace benefits by offering a unified, technology‑driven system for health insurance, healthcare access, and wellness programs. With over 10,000 businesses and 2 million lives already benefiting from its services, the company has positioned itself as India’s highest‑rated employee wellness partner for SMEs and startups. The core product, TeamSure, is a self‑serve portal that simplifies benefits management, reduces administrative overhead, and provides employees with instant access to tele‑consultations, medicine discounts, gym memberships, and mental health support.
The Software Development Engineer internship is a 6‑month on‑site opportunity in Bengaluru that serves as a launchpad to a full‑time SDE I role. Interns work on real, scoped features across the claims, wallet, subscriptions, provider network, and payments domains. The role blends backend and frontend responsibilities: you’ll design small schemas and APIs, walk your mentor through the design, then implement the solution using Java (Spring Boot), occasionally build React screens or Node endpoints, and debug your own releases. You’ll also shadow the on‑call rotation and present your end‑to‑end feature to the team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Designing and documenting data models and RESTful APIs for new features.
2. Writing clean, tested Java code with Spring Boot.
3. Implementing React components for user interfaces.
4. Building Node.js endpoints for micro‑services.
5. Writing SQL queries and managing database interactions.
6. Integrating with event‑driven systems such as Kafka.
7. Monitoring application health and troubleshooting production issues.
8. Participating in code reviews and adhering to Git best practices.
9. Using AI tools (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance productivity.
10. Delivering a fully functional feature and presenting it to stakeholders.
The tech stack revolves around Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, React, SQL, Kafka, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services. Exposure to LLM APIs and open‑source contributions is a plus.
Growth path: Successful interns receive a named mentor, weekly 1:1s, and formal reviews at mid‑point and end of internship. Based on performance, they are offered a full‑time SDE I position, with clear career progression into senior engineering roles.
Why join Onsurity? You’ll build production‑grade software that directly impacts millions of employees’ health and well‑being. The company culture emphasizes ownership, rapid delivery, and continuous learning, while offering mentorship, real‑world projects, and a supportive environment that values clear communication and low ego. With a focus on employee wellness, you’ll contribute to a mission that improves people’s lives while advancing your technical career.
