The Java Backend Developer role is designed for recent graduates who have a solid foundation in core Java and are eager to dive into enterpriseβgrade backend development. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will contribute to building and maintaining highβperformance APIs that power Citiβs internal and external applications. The position offers a hybrid work model, allowing you to collaborate in the Chennai office while also enjoying the flexibility of remote work days.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Write clean, modular Java code to develop new backend features and RESTful API endpoints.
2. Debug and resolve production and nonβproduction issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
3. Refactor legacy code to improve readability, performance, and adherence to coding standards.
4. Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito to achieve high test coverage.
5. Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
6. Write basic SQL queries, perform schema updates, and work with ORM tools like Hibernate.
7. Use Git for version control, manage branches, and create pull requests.
8. Collaborate with crossβfunctional agile teams, attending daily standβups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
9. Continuously learn design patterns, system architecture, and emerging backend technologies.
10. Assist in CI/CD pipeline monitoring and understand deployment workflows.
Tech Stack: Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Hibernate, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Git, Maven/Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, Docker (basic), AWS (basic).
