Apprentices will be embedded within real project teams, receive mentorship from senior engineers, and rotate across workstreams such as Java application development, QA automation, database performance tuning, and reporting. The program blends classroom‑style learning with hands‑on delivery, ensuring participants acquire both technical depth and professional soft skills. Key Responsibilities: 1. Participate in the full software development lifecycle – from requirement analysis to design, coding, testing, deployment and post‑production support. 2. Write clean, maintainable Java and SQL code, adhering to coding standards and performing unit testing. 3. Assist in performance tuning of database queries, creating indexes and analysing execution plans. 4. Contribute to functional and manual testing activities, preparing test cases, executing test cycles and logging defects. 5. Develop automation scripts using Selenium, REST Assured and Python where applicable. 6. Support front‑end development tasks using ReactJS or AngularJS and integrate with Node.js back‑ends. 7. Create and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau or Excel. 8. Monitor applications using Splunk, Dynatrace and Grafana, responding to alerts and performing root‑cause analysis. 9. Document technical designs, test evidence, deployment procedures and knowledge‑transfer articles. 10. Collaborate in Agile ceremonies – daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives – and contribute ideas for continuous improvement. Tech Stack: Java, Core Java, OOPS, Data Structures, SQL, Python, Selenium, REST Assured, ReactJS, AngularJS, Node.js, Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, Power Automate, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Git, Agile tools. Growth Path: Successful apprentices can transition into full‑time Software Engineer, QA Engineer, Data Analyst or Application Support Engineer roles within State Street’s technology division. What is the difference between Implicit Wait, Explicit Wait, and Fluent Wait in Selenium? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: Implicit Wait sets a global timeout for all element lookups. Explicit Wait pauses execution until a specific ExpectedCondition (e.g. elementToBeClickable) is met. Fluent Wait allows defining polling frequency and ignoring specific exceptions like NoSuchElementException.
Explain the Page Object Model (POM) and its advantages in Test Automation. Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: POM is a design pattern that creates an object repository for web UI elements. It separates test scripts from page locators, reducing code duplication and making maintenance easy when UI elements change.
How do you handle dynamic WebElements whose ID changes on page reload? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: Use dynamic XPath methods like contains(), starts-with(), text(), or XPath axes (ancestor, following-sibling, parent) instead of brittle absolute paths.
What is the difference between @BeforeMethod and @BeforeClass in TestNG? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: @BeforeClass runs once before the first test method in the current class, while @BeforeMethod executes before each individual test method.
How do you validate REST API response codes and JSON payload using Postman / RestAssured? Answer β–Ό
Model Answer: In RestAssured: given().when().get('/endpoint').then().assertThat().statusCode(200).body('status', equalTo('ACTIVE')).
