Founded in 2010, the company has grown rapidly to become a cornerstone of the internet economy, enabling startups and large enterprises alike to accept money online, manage subscriptions, and expand into new markets. With a mission to increase the GDP of the internet, Stripe invests heavily in building reliable, secure, and developer‑friendly APIs that simplify complex financial workflows.
In India, Stripe operates a Delivery Center in Bengaluru, where it collaborates closely with product, engineering, and design teams across the globe. The culture emphasizes high standards, rapid iteration, and a strong bias toward shipping real‑world products that impact millions of users. Employees enjoy a supportive environment that encourages learning, mentorship, and cross‑functional collaboration, making it an attractive destination for ambitious technologists.
The Software Engineer Intern role is a full‑time, 12‑week summer internship (or equivalent) that places you on a product team working on a mission‑critical project. You will be expected to write production‑grade code, participate in design discussions, and deliver a feature that ships to Stripe’s customers. The internship is structured with a dedicated intern manager, regular check‑ins, and opportunities to present your work to senior engineers and product leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and test production‑ready code for a feature that aligns with Stripe’s roadmap.
2. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and incorporating suggestions.
3. Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders including product managers, designers, and data engineers.
4. Write unit and integration tests to ensure high test coverage and reliability.
5. Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing services, contributing to incident resolution.
6. Document design decisions, APIs, and usage guidelines for internal and external developers.
7. Conduct performance profiling and optimization where needed.
8. Present progress and final outcomes to the team and broader organization.
9. Continuously learn new technologies, frameworks, and Stripe’s internal tooling.
10. Contribute ideas to improve engineering processes and team productivity.
Tech Stack: The team primarily uses Java, Go, Scala, Ruby, and JavaScript/TypeScript. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD pipelines is beneficial.
Growth Path: Successful interns often receive full‑time offers to join as Software Engineers, with clear career ladders that lead to senior, staff, and principal engineering roles. Stripe also provides mentorship programs, internal mobility, and access to a global network of engineers.
Why Join Stripe? You will work on products that power the global economy, gain exposure to cutting‑edge financial technology, and learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry. The internship offers a blend of autonomy and guidance, ensuring you make a tangible impact while accelerating your professional growth.
