With a presence in over 80 countries, the company invests heavily in research, development and digital transformation, delivering software-driven control systems, intelligent devices and cloudβbased analytics. In India, Rockwell has major engineering hubs in Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad, where crossβfunctional teams collaborate to build nextβgeneration automation platforms for sectors such as automotive, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods. The organization is known for its strong emphasis on continuous learning, employee empowerment and a culture that blends engineering rigor with innovative thinking.
The Test Automation Engineer role is a critical part of the Quality Engineering group. Reporting to the Automation Lead, the incumbent will design, develop, and maintain robust automated test suites for Rockwellβs industrial software products. The position works closely with developers, product owners, DevOps engineers and manual QA teams to embed quality early in the development lifecycle, reduce regression time, and ensure that releases meet stringent reliability standards required by missionβcritical customers.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Designing and scripting automated test cases using Selenium WebDriver and TestCafe based on functional and nonβfunctional specifications.
2. Building and enhancing modular test frameworks in Java and TypeScript, integrating with QTest for test management.
3. Executing largeβscale automated test runs, analyzing failures, and collaborating with developers to resolve defects.
4. Maintaining versionβcontrolled test assets in Git and ensuring traceability across CI/CD pipelines.
5. Contributing to continuous integration setups using Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps to trigger automated suites on every code commit.
6. Conducting REST API testing and performance validation where applicable.
7. Documenting test results, defect logs and metrics to drive quality improvements.
8. Mentoring junior QA engineers on best practices in test automation and OOP principles.
9. Participating in Agile ceremonies, providing test estimates and feedback for sprint planning.
10. Continuously researching emerging tools and techniques to improve test coverage and execution speed.
The tech stack revolves around Selenium, TestCafe, Java, TypeScript, Maven/Gradle, TestNG/JUnit, QTest, Git, and CI/CD platforms. Rockwell offers a clear growth path: engineers can progress to Senior Automation Engineer, Automation Lead, or move into broader Quality Assurance or DevOps leadership roles. The hybrid work model provides flexibility while fostering collaboration in stateβofβtheβart labs.
Why join Rockwell Automation? The company offers exposure to cuttingβedge industrial software used by Fortuneβ500 manufacturers, a supportive learning environment with access to internal training portals, and a culture that values innovation, safety and sustainability. Employees benefit from competitive compensation, comprehensive health benefits, and opportunities to work on global projects that have tangible impact on the worldβs manufacturing ecosystem.
