About the role

CleanStart is an emerging technology startup focused on building sustainable digital solutions for the Indian market. Founded in 2020, the company has quickly grown its portfolio to include AI‑assisted platforms, cloud‑native services, and end‑to‑end product suites for enterprises across logistics, healthcare, and e‑commerce. With a culture that encourages rapid experimentation and continuous learning, CleanStart attracts talent that thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

The engineering team operates in a hybrid model, leveraging modern DevOps practices, containerization, and micro‑service architectures to deliver high‑impact products.

As a Software Engineer – Full Stack (SDE‑1 / SDE‑2) in the Engineering department, you will be part of a dynamic squad that designs, builds, and maintains both the front‑end and back‑end of CleanStart’s flagship applications. The role is ideal for candidates with 0‑3 years of professional experience who are comfortable moving across the entire technology stack, from UI components to RESTful services and database layers. You will work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and senior architects to translate business requirements into scalable, production‑ready code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive front‑end interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Build robust back‑end services and REST APIs that power core business functionalities.
  • Integrate and manage relational (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • Containerize applications with Docker and ensure smooth deployments in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Conduct functional QA, write automated test cases, and maintain test coverage.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the stack.
  • Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency and code quality.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to knowledge‑sharing sessions.
  • Participate in code reviews, uphold coding standards, and mentor junior peers.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and propose improvements to the product architecture.

Technical Stack: React / Angular, Node.js / Express, Java / Spring Boot, MySQL, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes (basic), Git, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions), AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot).

Growth Path: Starting as an SDE‑1, high performers can progress to SDE‑2, Lead Engineer, and eventually Engineering Manager within 3‑5 years, with opportunities to lead product modules or specialize in AI‑driven services.

Why Join CleanStart? You will work on cutting‑edge projects that have real‑world impact, enjoy a merit‑based culture that rewards innovation, and benefit from mentorship by seasoned engineers. The company offers flexible work hours, a supportive learning budget, and a vibrant community that celebrates both professional and personal milestones.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in JavaScript. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
Behavioural & HR questions 3
Why do you want to join Cleanstart as a Software Engineer – Full Stack (SDE-1 / SDE-2)?
Highlight Cleanstart's market reputation, recent tech innovations, and how your skills in JavaScript directly solve their team's objectives.
