About the role

Eaton is a global leader in intelligent power management, delivering innovative solutions across aerospace, mobility, utilities, industrial manufacturing, commercial buildings and data centres. With a strong focus on sustainability, Eaton’s mission is to improve quality of life while protecting the environment. The company operates in more than 175 countries and invests heavily in research, digital transformation and employee development, making it a preferred employer for engineering talent in India. The Associate Engineer – Product Stewardship and Sustainability role is based in Eaton’s Centre for Sustainability in Pune (Hadapsar). This entry‑level position is designed for fresh graduates who have a foundational understanding of engineering principles and a keen interest in environmental regulations and product compliance. The incumbent will work closely with cross‑functional teams – including project engineering, quality, supply chain and global product development – to ensure that Eaton’s aerospace products meet all applicable regulatory requirements before market launch. Key responsibilities include: 1. Supporting regulatory compliance assessments for new and existing products across frameworks such as REACH, RoHS, TSCA, PFAS, Propositionβ€―65, AD‑DSL, ELV and POP. 2. Collecting and validating compliance data from local and global suppliers. 3. Assisting engineering teams in interpreting and implementing product stewardship requirements. 4. Preparing and maintaining compliance documentation, dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders. 5. Monitoring project milestones, tracking compliance tasks and escalating issues when necessary. 6. Conducting research on upcoming regulations and communicating impact to the product development team. 7. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting automation and digital tools for compliance workflows. 8. Supporting global product stewardship activities, including participation in virtual meetings with Eaton’s worldwide sustainability network. 9. Engaging with customers to understand specific compliance expectations and translating them into actionable project plans. 10. Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards and best practices in sustainability engineering. The technical stack for this role primarily involves regulatory databases, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), basic data‑analysis tools, and familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. As the associate gains experience, there are clear growth paths toward senior product stewardship engineer, compliance manager, or sustainability specialist roles within Eaton’s global network. Why join Eaton? The company offers a collaborative culture that encourages learning, mentorship and exposure to cutting‑edge sustainability projects. Fresh engineers get the chance to work on high‑impact aerospace products, interact with international experts and build a solid foundation in regulatory engineering – a niche skill set that is increasingly valued across industries.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between WHERE and HAVING clauses in SQL? Answer
Model answer: WHERE filters rows before any groupings are applied, while HAVING filters aggregated groups after GROUP BY has executed.
Explain SQL Window functions: ROW_NUMBER(), RANK(), and DENSE_RANK(). Answer
Model answer: ROW_NUMBER() assigns unique sequential integers. RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties and skips ranks. DENSE_RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties without skipping rank numbers.
How do you handle NULL and missing values during data cleaning in Python/Pandas? Answer
Model answer: Use .isna().sum() to identify missing values. Impute with mean/median using .fillna() or remove with .dropna(subset=[...]) depending on variance impact.
What is the difference between Star Schema and Snowflake Schema in Data Warehousing? Answer
Model answer: Star Schema has denormalized dimension tables directly connected to the central Fact table. Snowflake Schema normalizes dimension tables into sub-dimensions to minimize redundancy.
How do you calculate MoM (Month-over-Month) growth in SQL? Answer
Model answer: Use LAG(revenue, 1) OVER (ORDER BY month) to fetch the previous month's revenue and compute (revenue - prev_revenue) / prev_revenue * 100.
