About the role

Role & responsibilities 1. Technical and Engineering Leadership Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of web applications. Drive technical architecture and design decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.

Establish coding standards, reusable components, design patterns, and engineering best practices. Conduct code reviews, technical design reviews, and architecture discussions. Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and security vulnerabilities.

Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that deliver measurable business or engineering value. 2. Web Application Development Guide the development of responsive, user-friendly web applications using React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript. Oversee backend service and API development using Node.js, Python, FastAPI, or equivalent technologies.

Ensure seamless integration across frontend applications, REST APIs, databases, authentication services, and external systems. Promote modular application architecture, reusable UI components, and maintainable code. Ensure applications meet performance, accessibility, browser compatibility, usability, and reliability standards. 3.

Team Leadership and Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of frontend and backend engineers. Provide technical guidance, coaching, and opportunities for continuous learning and career development. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, ownership, and engineering excellence.

Support recruitment, onboarding, knowledge transfer, and technical capability development. Manage workload distribution, team priorities, and cross-functional collaboration. Encourage end-to-end ownership of solutions, from design and development through deployment and production support. 4.

Delivery and Agile Execution Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, QA, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, effort estimation, retrospectives, and release planning. Drive predictable delivery while maintaining high standards of software quality.

Track project progress, dependencies, risks, blockers, and technical constraints. Ensure transparent status reporting and timely escalation of delivery risks. Balance feature development with technical debt reduction, platform improvements, and operational requirements. 5.

DevOps and CI/CD Drive the adoption of automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes. Collaborate with DevOps and Platform Engineering teams to improve CI/CD pipelines. Promote automated unit testing, integration testing, code-quality checks, and security scanning.

Support containerized deployments and cloud-native application architectures. Ensure effective logging, monitoring, observability, and production readiness. Improve deployment reliability and release efficiency through engineering automation. 6.

Application Security and Quality Ensure secure coding practices are followed throughout the software development lifecycle. Implement and promote best practices for authentication, authorization, API security, secrets management, input validation, and dependency management. Establish appropriate automated testing and code-quality standards.

Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to address vulnerabilities and compliance requirements. Lead root-cause analysis of production defects and recurring incidents, ensuring sustainable corrective actions. 7. Stakeholder Management and Collaboration Act as the primary engineering point of contact for web development initiatives.

Collaborate with Product, UX, Architecture, QA, DevOps, Data Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams. Communicate technical decisions, design trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and delivery status to relevant stakeholders. Translate complex technical concepts into clear business implications and recommendations.

Align engineering priorities with product objectives, customer requirements, and organizational goals.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in Python. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
