About the role

Capco, a Wipro company, is a global technology and management consulting firm that has earned accolades such as Consultancy of the Year at the British Bank Awards and a place among the Top 100 Best Companies for Women in India 2022. With a footprint in 32 cities worldwide, Capco serves more than 100 clients across banking, financial services, insurance, payments and energy sectors. The firm is known for deep transformation execution, delivering end‑to‑end technology solutions that modernise legacy systems and enable clients to stay ahead in a rapidly changing market.

The Java Developer role is based in Hinjewadi Phase 1, Pune, and works on the Securities Finance Technology team. The team is building a next‑generation automated locates platform that underpins securities‑lending operations for large banks and financial institutions. The position is senior‑level, requiring hands‑on expertise in Java, Spring, micro‑services, cloud‑native design and real‑time data processing.

The role offers exposure to high‑volume transactional systems, integration with market‑leading messaging and caching technologies, and the chance to shape a critical product used by global finance players.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a scalable, high‑performance automated locates platform for securities finance.
  • Build micro‑service based enterprise applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and related frameworks.
  • Containerise services with Docker and orchestrate them on Kubernetes clusters.
  • Implement cloud‑native solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS and Lambda.
  • Integrate real‑time messaging systems (Kafka, IBM MQ, AWS SQS/SNS) and caching layers (Redis) for low‑latency data flow.
  • Create and optimise SQL data models and queries for high‑throughput transactional workloads on MS‑SQL/MySQL.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, QA and operations to ensure seamless end‑to‑end delivery.
  • Write clean, testable code and champion the use of AI‑assisted coding tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural decisions.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and incident resolution for production stability.

Tech Stack: Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS), Kafka, IBM MQ, Redis, MS‑SQL/MySQL, Git, GitHub Copilot/Claude, CI/CD pipelines.

Growth Path: Capco follows a flat hierarchy that encourages merit‑based progression. Successful developers can move into Lead Engineer, Architecture Specialist, or Product Owner roles, with opportunities to work on cross‑border projects and gain exposure to other industry verticals such as energy and payments.

Why Join Capco? The firm offers a tolerant, inclusive culture that values diversity and creativity. Employees enjoy flexible hybrid work, exposure to cutting‑edge fintech challenges, and a clear roadmap for career advancement without forced hierarchy. Competitive compensation, shift allowances for EMEA timings, and a supportive learning environment make Capco an attractive destination for ambitious Java engineers.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in Core Java. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
