Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Meta, formerly Facebook, is a global technology leader that builds products and platforms connecting billions of people worldwide. With a focus on cutting‑edge research in artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and scalable data‑center infrastructure, Meta empowers developers and engineers to create experiences that transcend traditional screens. The company’s culture emphasizes openness, rapid experimentation, and a commitment to building products that have a lasting social impact.
The ASIC Engineer Intern – Infra Silicon Enablement role is part of Meta’s Release to Production Engineering team. Interns will work closely with senior ASIC engineers to design, validate, and bring silicon to production for Meta’s data‑center workloads. The internship spans 12 to 16 weeks, offering hands‑on experience across the entire silicon lifecycle—from architecture and design reviews to pre‑silicon validation, silicon bring‑up, post‑silicon characterization, and fleet deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Collaborating on silicon architecture and design input sessions.
2. Developing and maintaining validation and automation toolsets for silicon diagnostics and performance analysis.
3. Performing early‑lab silicon bring‑up and debugging using Linux, Python, and C/C++.
4. Conducting post‑silicon characterization and data‑center deployment testing.
5. Root‑cause analysis of silicon issues and providing remediation plans.
6. Working with cross‑functional teams to incorporate production feedback into next‑generation designs.
7. Writing scripts and tools for automated silicon diagnostics and performance monitoring.
8. Documenting validation procedures, test plans, and results.
9. Participating in design reviews and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
10. Staying current with industry trends in silicon design for AI/ML, networking, and storage.
Tech stack: Linux, Python, C/C++, silicon validation tools, debugging utilities, and familiarity with bus protocols such as PCIe, I2C, SPI, and USB.
Growth path: Successful interns often transition into full‑time ASIC or hardware engineering roles within Meta, with opportunities to work on large‑scale data‑center silicon projects and contribute to product strategy.
Why join Meta? You’ll be part of a global team that tackles complex engineering challenges, receive mentorship from seasoned experts, and have the chance to influence products that reach billions. Meta’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning makes it an ideal environment for freshers looking to accelerate their careers.
