About the role

Capco, a Wipro company, is a global technology and management consulting firm that has built a strong reputation in the banking, financial services and energy sectors. With a presence in 32 cities worldwide and more than 100 clients, Capco is known for delivering large‑scale transformation projects that combine deep industry knowledge with cutting‑edge technology. The firm has been recognised for its inclusive culture, winning the British Bank Award for Consultancy of the Year and ranking among the Top 100 Best Companies for Women in India 2022. Its open, diverse environment encourages innovative thinking and empowers employees to shape their own career paths without a forced hierarchy. The role of Senior Java Developer sits within the Securities Finance Technology team in Pune’s Hinjewadi Phaseβ€―1 campus. The team is responsible for building a next‑generation automated locates platform that underpins securities lending operations for major banks and financial institutions. As a senior developer you will design, develop and optimise a high‑throughput, cloud‑native solution that processes millions of transactions daily. You will work closely with product owners, architects, QA and operations to ensure seamless integration with existing workflows and to deliver a resilient, scalable service. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design and implement a scalable automated locates platform using Java and Spring Boot. 2. Build micro‑services that communicate via Kafka, SQS/SNS and expose REST/GraphQL APIs. 3. Containerise applications with Docker and orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes (EKS). 4. Develop and tune SQL data models on MSβ€―SQL/MySQL for high‑volume transactional processing. 5. Integrate Redis caching to reduce latency for real‑time look‑ups. 6. Implement CI/CD pipelines and leverage GitHub Copilot/Claude for code quality. 7. Conduct performance testing, identify bottlenecks and optimise resource utilisation. 8. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure security, compliance and operational excellence. 9. Mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural decisions. 10. Participate in on‑call rotation and incident resolution for production services. Tech Stack: Core Java, Spring Framework (Boot, Cloud), Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EKS, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS), Kafka, Redis, MSβ€―SQL/MySQL, Git, GitHub Copilot, CI/CD tools (Jenkins/CodePipeline). Growth Path: Capco offers a clear progression from Senior Developer to Lead Engineer, Architecture Manager and eventually to Consulting Director, with opportunities to move across domains and geographies. Continuous learning is supported through internal academies, certifications and exposure to global client projects. Why Join Capco? You will work on mission‑critical financial systems for top‑tier banks, gain deep expertise in cloud‑native micro‑services, and be part of a culture that values diversity, creativity and personal ownership. The EMEA shift provides exposure to international markets, while hybrid work‑from‑office flexibility ensures a balanced lifestyle.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in Core Java. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
