About the role

About the Role

A student can have every skill a company is hiring for and still freeze in the interview, submit a sloppy assignment, or miss what a company is actually testing for because no one sat with them and worked through it directly. That's the gap this role closes. You'll run the hands-on work that turns a shortlisted student into a placed one: mock interviews, assignment reviews, doubt resolution, and real-time coaching through every stage of a company's hiring process.

The opportunities you're prepping students for, and the curriculum they're coming from, are Software Engineering roles โ€” SDE, full stack, backend. You need to be someone who can actually solve the problems you're coaching students through, not just explain the process around them. This is both a strategy & execution-focused role.

Your job is to run the prep playbook directly with students โ€” the rejection analysis, hiring intelligence, and process design behind it โ€” and to surface what you're seeing on the ground so that the playbook keeps getting sharper.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mock Interviews & Technical Prep: Run mock technical interviews and coding practice sessions with shortlisted students, giving direct, specific feedback on both correctness and communication.
  • Assignment & Assessment Guidance: Review student assignments and take-home tests, and coach them through gaps in logic, code quality, or approach before they submit.
  • Doubt Resolution: Provide last-minute prep support and doubt resolution as students move through each stage of a company's hiring process.
  • Company-Specific Shortlisting & Mentoring: Identify the right candidates suitable for companies roles based on automated tools & help students prepare for company-specific interview formats, expectations, and evaluation criteria.
  • Ground-Level Signal Feed: Report patterns you notice โ€” recurring mistakes, confusion points, company feedback โ€” so they can feed into ongoing analysis and hiring-intelligence work.
  • Use AI in Your
  • Own Prep
  • Work: Use AI to personalize practice problems, generate mock-interview scenarios, and speed up code review โ€” not just to save your own time, but to give students better prep faster.
  • Software development / automations: Work on solving pressing problems you / your team / your students face by building software solutions & deploy on scale for everyone.
  • Requirements 0โ€“2 years of experience, with strong personal coding fundamentals โ€” comfortable solving DSA and full-stack/backend problems yourself, not just explaining them.
  • You can solve a DSA problem yourself well enough to spot exactly where a student's logic breaks down, not just whether their final answer is right.
  • Exposure to at least one full-stack framework (React, Node.js, or similar) beyond just DSA/coding fundamentals.
  • Able to give direct, specific feedback โ€” comfortable being the person who tells a student their code or approach isn't good enough yet, and exactly why.
  • You'd rather sit with one student and actually fix their broken mental model than deliver a generic tip that applies to everyone.
  • You stay on top of what companies are actually testing for right now and adjust your mentoring immediately, rather than running the same playbook every batch.
  • You're comfortable being measured on whether the students you personally coached actually got placed โ€” not on how many sessions you ran.
  • You already use AI tools to prepare faster for your own work, and you'd bring that habit into how you help students practice.
  • Strong Candidates May Also Have Personal experience going through technical interviews recently (own job search, campus placements) โ€” you remember what it actually felt like.
  • Some experience mentoring, teaching, or tutoring others, even informally.
  • Key Outcomes Student Readiness: Increase the percentage of your assigned students who clear mock interviews and assignments before the real one.
  • Placement Conversion: Contribute directly to your program's placement rate for the students you personally coach.
  • Feedback Quality: Give specific, actionable feedback โ€” not generic tips โ€” that measurably improves a student's next attempt.
  • Turnaround: Meet quick turnaround on assignment reviews and mock interview slots, without sacrificing quality.
  • What Makes This Role Exciting You get to be the person directly responsible for someone's first real interview going well โ€” not a dashboard, a real outcome for a real person.
  • You get immediate, honest feedback on whether your coaching actually works โ€” a student either gets placed or doesn't, and you'll know exactly why.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between Implicit Wait, Explicit Wait, and Fluent Wait in Selenium? Answer
Model answer: Implicit Wait sets a global timeout for all element lookups. Explicit Wait pauses execution until a specific ExpectedCondition (e.g. elementToBeClickable) is met. Fluent Wait allows defining polling frequency and ignoring specific exceptions like NoSuchElementException.
Explain the Page Object Model (POM) and its advantages in Test Automation. Answer
Model answer: POM is a design pattern that creates an object repository for web UI elements. It separates test scripts from page locators, reducing code duplication and making maintenance easy when UI elements change.
How do you handle dynamic WebElements whose ID changes on page reload? Answer
Model answer: Use dynamic XPath methods like contains(), starts-with(), text(), or XPath axes (ancestor, following-sibling, parent) instead of brittle absolute paths.
What is the difference between @BeforeMethod and @BeforeClass in TestNG? Answer
Model answer: @BeforeClass runs once before the first test method in the current class, while @BeforeMethod executes before each individual test method.
How do you validate REST API response codes and JSON payload using Postman / RestAssured? Answer
Model answer: In RestAssured: given().when().get('/endpoint').then().assertThat().statusCode(200).body('status', equalTo('ACTIVE')).
