About the role

Medline India, a subsidiary of Medline Industries LP, was established in 2010 in Pune as an offshore development centre. Over the past decade the company has grown to a 1,500‑plus strong workforce covering technology, finance and business support functions. The organisation is recognised as a β€˜Great Place to Work’ (May 2023‑May 2024) and prides itself on a collaborative culture that encourages innovation in the healthcare supply chain.

Medline’s global footprint spans more than 125 countries, delivering over 550,000 medical products and clinical solutions, and it consistently ranks among Forbes’ Best Large Employers and Best Employers for Women.

The Associate Analyst – Business Operations role is an entry‑level position designed for fresh graduates who are keen to apply analytical thinking to real‑world supply‑chain challenges. Reporting to senior operations managers, the analyst will dive into transactional data, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and help shape process‑improvement initiatives across inventory, finance and procurement functions. The role blends data‑driven research with cross‑functional collaboration, offering a solid foundation for a career in operations, supply‑chain analytics, or finance.

Key responsibilities include

  • Review daily, weekly and monthly operational data to spot inefficiencies and recommend cost‑reduction measures.
  • Prepare and distribute analytical reports that highlight expense trends and savings opportunities.
  • Work closely with Inventory Management, Information Systems, Financial Audit, and Accounts Payable teams to gather data and validate findings.
  • Analyse historical sales patterns to support growth‑planning and expansion strategies.
  • Develop basic dashboards and visualisations using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, nested formulas).
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects aimed at improving supply‑chain throughput and inventory accuracy.
  • Document process improvements and assist in the creation of standard operating procedures.
  • Continuously monitor key performance indicators and suggest corrective actions.
  • Support senior analysts in ad‑hoc data requests and scenario modelling.
  • Contribute ideas to streamline workflows and enhance data‑quality standards.

The primary tech stack revolves around Microsoft Excel, with exposure to SAP for transactional data extraction. Familiarity with basic data‑visualisation tools (Power BI or Tableau) is a plus. As analysts gain experience, they can progress to senior analyst, operations manager, or specialist roles in supply‑chain planning and finance.

Why join Medline India? Freshers receive mentorship from seasoned professionals, access to global best practices, and the chance to work on projects that directly impact patient care worldwide. The company’s emphasis on learning, a supportive work‑life balance, and clear career ladders make it an attractive launchpad for ambitious graduates.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between WHERE and HAVING clauses in SQL? Answer
Model answer: WHERE filters rows before any groupings are applied, while HAVING filters aggregated groups after GROUP BY has executed.
Explain SQL Window functions: ROW_NUMBER(), RANK(), and DENSE_RANK(). Answer
Model answer: ROW_NUMBER() assigns unique sequential integers. RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties and skips ranks. DENSE_RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties without skipping rank numbers.
How do you handle NULL and missing values during data cleaning in Python/Pandas? Answer
Model answer: Use .isna().sum() to identify missing values. Impute with mean/median using .fillna() or remove with .dropna(subset=[...]) depending on variance impact.
What is the difference between Star Schema and Snowflake Schema in Data Warehousing? Answer
Model answer: Star Schema has denormalized dimension tables directly connected to the central Fact table. Snowflake Schema normalizes dimension tables into sub-dimensions to minimize redundancy.
How do you calculate MoM (Month-over-Month) growth in SQL? Answer
Model answer: Use LAG(revenue, 1) OVER (ORDER BY month) to fetch the previous month's revenue and compute (revenue - prev_revenue) / prev_revenue * 100.
