About the role

Shure is a globally recognized leader in audio technology, known for its high‑fidelity microphones, headphones, and audio solutions that power concerts, studios, broadcast, and everyday communication. With a heritage spanning over 90 years, Shure combines engineering excellence with a culture of innovation, delivering products that set industry standards for sound quality and reliability. The company operates across more than 100 countries, serving professionals and consumers alike, and invests heavily in research, development, and talent growth. As a fresher‑friendly organization, Shure offers a collaborative environment where new graduates can work alongside seasoned engineers and contribute to real‑world projects from day one. The Software Development Intern role is designed for enthusiastic computer science or engineering students who want to translate classroom knowledge into production‑grade software. Interns will be embedded within product development teams, participating in the full software lifecycle – from requirement analysis and design to coding, testing, and deployment. The internship provides a clear pathway to a Pre‑Placement Offer (PPO) for high‑performing candidates, making it an ideal stepping stone toward a full‑time engineering career at Shure. Key Responsibilities: 1. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in languages such as Java, Python, or C++. 2. Assist in designing and implementing software modules for audio processing, device control, or cloud services. 3. Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback. 4. Develop unit and integration test cases to ensure software quality. 5. Debug and resolve defects reported by QA or end‑users. 6. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including hardware, firmware, and product management. 7. Contribute to documentation of design decisions, APIs, and user guides. 8. Stay updated with emerging technologies and suggest improvements to existing solutions. 9. Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. 10. Attend sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives as part of an Agile workflow. Tech Stack: Java, Python, C++, Git, Docker, RESTful APIs, Linux, Agile tools (Jira), and basic knowledge of audio signal processing is a plus. Growth Path: Successful interns may receive a PPO, leading to roles such as Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, or Cloud Solutions Engineer. Shure encourages internal mobility, mentorship programs, and continuous learning through workshops and certifications. Why Join Shure? You will work on cutting‑edge audio technologies that impact millions worldwide, gain mentorship from industry veterans, and enjoy a supportive culture that values creativity, diversity, and work‑life balance. The internship offers a competitive stipend, exposure to global projects, and a realistic chance of securing a full‑time position after graduation.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in Java. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
