With a heritage of over four decades, Oracle powers everything from enterprise resource planning to AI‑driven analytics for Fortune 500 companies and startups alike. The company’s culture emphasizes continuous learning, innovation, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion, making it an attractive destination for fresh talent seeking to grow in a cutting‑edge environment.

As a Support Engineer I at Oracle’s Bengaluru campus, you will be part of the Services and Support division, handling front‑end application investigations and backend troubleshooting. The role blends customer interaction with deep technical analysis, requiring you to capture logs, query databases, update fields, and cycle servers to resolve incidents. You will document every step, create knowledge‑base articles, and collaborate across engineering, QA, and operations to ensure seamless service delivery.

The shift runs from 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM IST, and on‑call support may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve customer‑reported technical issues within defined SLAs.
  • Own incidents from initial triage through resolution, providing regular status updates.
  • Analyse logs, error messages, and system configurations to pinpoint root causes.
  • Reproduce issues in test environments and document findings.
  • Escalate complex problems to senior engineers or development teams with comprehensive diagnostics.
  • Communicate troubleshooting steps, work‑arounds, and resolutions professionally to customers.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and author knowledge‑base articles.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address multi‑disciplinary problems.
  • Continuously update product knowledge and stay current with Oracle’s tools and processes.
  • Meet support KPIs such as response time, resolution time, case quality, and customer satisfaction.

Tech Stack: SQL, Oracle Database, Linux/Unix command line, basic scripting (Shell/Python), ticketing tools (ServiceNow), monitoring utilities, and familiarity with cloud platforms.

Growth Path: Successful engineers can progress to Senior Support Engineer, Technical Lead, or transition into product engineering, solution architecture, or project management roles within Oracle’s vast ecosystem.

Why Join Oracle? The company offers a robust learning environment, mentorship from industry experts, competitive compensation, and a clear career ladder. Fresh graduates gain exposure to enterprise‑scale systems, global customers, and the latest AI‑enabled cloud technologies, positioning them for long‑term success in the tech industry.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between WHERE and HAVING clauses in SQL? Answer
Model answer: WHERE filters rows before any groupings are applied, while HAVING filters aggregated groups after GROUP BY has executed.
Explain SQL Window functions: ROW_NUMBER(), RANK(), and DENSE_RANK(). Answer
Model answer: ROW_NUMBER() assigns unique sequential integers. RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties and skips ranks. DENSE_RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties without skipping rank numbers.
How do you handle NULL and missing values during data cleaning in Python/Pandas? Answer
Model answer: Use .isna().sum() to identify missing values. Impute with mean/median using .fillna() or remove with .dropna(subset=[...]) depending on variance impact.
What is the difference between Star Schema and Snowflake Schema in Data Warehousing? Answer
Model answer: Star Schema has denormalized dimension tables directly connected to the central Fact table. Snowflake Schema normalizes dimension tables into sub-dimensions to minimize redundancy.
How do you calculate MoM (Month-over-Month) growth in SQL? Answer
Model answer: Use LAG(revenue, 1) OVER (ORDER BY month) to fetch the previous month's revenue and compute (revenue - prev_revenue) / prev_revenue * 100.
