About the role

Rubrik is a global data security and cyber‑resilience company that helps enterprises protect, manage, and recover data across on‑premise, cloud and SaaS environments. Founded in 2014, Rubrik has grown rapidly to become a leader in cloud‑native data protection, leveraging a modern architecture that combines backup, archival, analytics and compliance in a single platform. With offices in the United States, Europe and India, the company invests heavily in research, innovation and a culture that encourages engineers to experiment, fail fast and ship high‑impact solutions. In India, Rubrik’s Bengaluru centre serves as a hub for product development, cloud engineering and customer success, offering fresh graduates a chance to work on cutting‑edge technologies alongside seasoned professionals. The role of Software Engineer – Cloud: Azure is positioned within Rubrik’s Cloud Native Protection team. As an early‑career engineer, you will be part of a fast‑moving squad that builds services to protect, search and analyse data in public cloud environments. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle – from design and coding to testing, deployment and post‑release maintenance – while collaborating with product managers, architects and senior engineers. The position is ideal for candidates with 0‑2 years of experience who are passionate about distributed systems, container orchestration and cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design, develop and ship micro‑service components that run on Azure and integrate with Rubrik’s data protection platform. 2. Write clean, testable code in Go, Java, Python or C++ and adhere to coding standards. 3. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Docker and Kubernetes for automated builds, tests and deployments. 4. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback and mentor peers. 5. Develop unit, integration and performance tests to ensure reliability and scalability. 6. Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis and implement fixes. 7. Contribute to architectural discussions, suggest improvements for scalability, security and cost‑efficiency. 8. Document design decisions, APIs and operational runbooks. 9. Stay updated with emerging cloud services, DevOps tools and industry best practices. 10. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver end‑to‑end features on schedule. Tech Stack: Azure, Go/Java/Python/C++, Docker, Kubernetes, REST/GRPC APIs, Git, Jenkins/ArgoCD, Prometheus, Grafana, SQL/NoSQL databases. Growth Path: Successful engineers can progress to Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, and eventually to Architecture or Management roles, with opportunities to specialize in cloud security, data analytics or platform engineering. Why Join Rubrik: Rubrik offers a high‑impact environment where fresh talent works on real customer problems at scale, exposure to multi‑cloud architectures, and a culture that rewards curiosity and ownership. The company provides mentorship programs, continuous learning budgets and a collaborative atmosphere that balances challenging projects with a supportive work‑life balance.

Technical questions 5
Explain OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) principles with real-world examples in Go. Answer
Model answer: 1. Encapsulation (data hiding via private fields/getters). 2. Abstraction (hiding implementation complexity). 3. Inheritance (code reusability). 4. Polymorphism (method overriding/overloading).
What is the time and space complexity of QuickSort vs MergeSort? Answer
Model answer: QuickSort: Average O(N log N) time, O(log N) space. Worst O(N^2). MergeSort: Guaranteed O(N log N) time, but requires O(N) auxiliary space.
Explain the difference between SQL Indexing (B-Tree vs Hash) and when not to use an index. Answer
Model answer: Indexes speed up SELECT queries via B-Trees. However, they slow down INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations because indexes must be updated on disk. Avoid on low-cardinality columns (e.g., boolean flags).
What happens under the hood when you enter a URL in a browser? Answer
Model answer: 1. DNS lookup (resolves IP). 2. TCP 3-way handshake (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK). 3. TLS negotiation for HTTPS. 4. HTTP GET request sent. 5. Server responds with HTML/CSS/JS. 6. Browser renders DOM & CSSOM tree.
What is the difference between REST and GraphQL APIs? Answer
Model answer: REST uses multiple fixed endpoints with possible over/under-fetching. GraphQL uses a single endpoint allowing clients to query exact fields in a single request.
