Job Description & Key Responsibilities
BJAK started its journey in 2019 with a bold vision: to make financial services simple, accessible, and intelligent for everyone. The company launched the first mobileβfirst insurance platform in Southeast Asia, quickly becoming the regionβs leading insurance marketplace. Building on that success, BJAK has expanded into a fullβstack AIβdriven neobank, offering spending, saving, investing, currency exchange, travel, and reward solutions through a single, seamless mobile experience. With a culturally diverse team spanning more than 20 nationalities, BJAK operates in a hybrid model of remote work and global offices, fostering a collaborative environment where engineers are encouraged to experiment, ship, and iterate rapidly.
The Android Developer role is a core part of the engineering team that powers the AI Neobank app. As an Android Engineer, you will be responsible for translating complex financial workflows into intuitive, highβperformance native experiences for millions of users. You will work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, backend engineers, and AI specialists to take features from concept to production, ensuring that each release meets the highest standards of reliability, security, and user delight. The role demands a strong product sense, an eye for detail, and the ability to troubleshoot production issues in real time.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Design, develop, and ship native Android features for onboarding, account management, card issuance, payments, transfers, rewards, and AIβassisted journeys.
2. Implement clean architecture using Jetpack components, Coroutines, Flow, and modern Kotlin best practices.
3. Optimize app performance, reduce crash rates, and improve loading states across a wide range of devices.
4. Collaborate with crossβfunctional teams to define API contracts, authentication flows, and secure data handling mechanisms.
5. Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to the teamβs technical standards.
6. Use analytics and user feedback to iterate on existing features and drive continuous improvement.
7. Write comprehensive unit, integration, and UI tests to ensure release stability.
8. Participate in onβcall rotations to address production incidents promptly.
9. Stay updated with the latest Android ecosystem trends and propose innovative solutions.
10. Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the engineering community.
The tech stack revolves around Kotlin, Android Jetpack, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Dagger/Hilt for dependency injection, Retrofit for networking, and modern CI/CD pipelines. Growth at BJAK is meritβdriven; high performers can progress to senior engineer, lead, or product ownership roles within a short timeframe. Joining BJAK means working on a highβimpact product that touches real financial lives, learning from seasoned engineers, and enjoying a culture that values autonomy, rapid delivery, and continuous learning.
