Job Description & Key Responsibilities
L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited (L&TâŻST) is a strategic business unit of Larsen &âŻToubro, one of Indiaâs largest engineering conglomerates. Established to drive indigenous semiconductor design and manufacturing, L&TâŻST focuses on systemâonâchip (SoC) development, advanced packaging, and hardwareâsoftware coâverification for sectors such as automotive, communications, and industrial automation. The company boasts stateâofâtheâart labs, collaborations with global EDA vendors, and a strong pipeline of nextâgeneration silicon projects, making it a preferred destination for engineers who want to work at the cutting edge of semiconductor technology.
The role of Engineer â Emulation is tailored for fresh graduates and earlyâcareer professionals (0â3âŻyears) who are passionate about FPGAâbased prototyping and preâsilicon validation. As an Emulation Engineer, you will be part of a crossâfunctional team that bridges RTL design, verification, and software development, ensuring that complex SoC blocks are validated efficiently before tapeâout. You will gain handsâon experience with industryâleading emulation platforms, develop automation scripts to accelerate verification cycles, and contribute to the overall quality and reliability of silicon deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain FPGAâbased SoC prototypes using Synopsys HAPS and ZeBu platforms.
2. Prepare RTL, perform synthesis, placeâandâroute, and generate bitstreams for emulation runs.
3. Compile, bringâup, and debug hardware emulation environments, resolving timing and functional issues.
4. Execute preâsilicon validation, hardware/software coâverification, and performance characterization.
5. Collaborate closely with RTL designers, verification engineers, firmware and software teams to close bugs and improve test coverage.
6. Create and maintain automation frameworks (Python/TCL) to reduce verification turnaround time.
7. Document emulation setups, test results, and provide clear reports to project stakeholders.
8. Participate in design reviews, offering insights on emulation feasibility and resource utilization.
9. Stay updated with emerging FPGA and emulation technologies and propose improvements.
10. Support postâsilicon bringâup activities when required.
Tech Stack: FPGA (Xilinx/Intel), Synopsys HAPS, ZeBu, Verilog/VHDL, SystemVerilog, Python, TCL, Linux scripting, Git, and basic knowledge of digital design concepts such as timing analysis and clock domain crossing.
Growth Path: Starting as an Engineer â Emulation, you can progress to Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, and eventually Architecture or Management roles within L&TâŻSTâs silicon validation domain. The company encourages continuous learning through internal training, certifications, and exposure to multiâproject wafer (MPW) runs.
Why Join L&T Semiconductor Technologies? You will work on highâimpact semiconductor projects, gain mentorship from seasoned VLSI experts, and benefit from L&Tâs robust infrastructure and global client base. The role offers a blend of handsâon hardware work and software automation, providing a solid foundation for a longâterm career in the semiconductor industry.
