About the role

Extreme Networks is a global leader in cloud‑driven networking solutions, serving enterprises, service providers and data‑center operators worldwide. With a portfolio that spans switching, routing, wireless, security and analytics, the company helps organizations modernise their digital infrastructure. Headquartered in the United States, Extreme Networks has a strong engineering presence in India, especially in Bengaluru, where it leverages local talent to build and test next‑generation networking software. The Associate QA SW Engineer role is an entry‑level position designed for fresh B.Tech graduates who are passionate about software quality and testing. As a member of the QA team, you will work closely with development engineers to ensure that the networking products released by Extreme meet the highest standards of reliability, performance and security. The role offers a blend of manual testing, test‑automation scripting, defect tracking and exposure to CI/CD pipelines, providing a solid foundation for a long‑term career in quality assurance. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Design, develop and maintain detailed test plans and test cases based on product specifications. 2. Execute functional, regression and smoke tests manually and via automation tools. 3. Create and maintain Selenium‑based automation scripts to accelerate test cycles. 4. Log, track and verify defects using JIRA, collaborating with developers for timely resolution. 5. Participate in daily stand‑ups and sprint reviews to provide QA status updates. 6. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous validation. 7. Conduct performance testing to evaluate response times, throughput and resource utilisation under load. 8. Prepare test summary reports and metrics for stakeholders. 9. Contribute ideas for improving testing processes, frameworks and overall product quality. 10. Stay updated with networking fundamentals and emerging testing tools to support product teams. **Tech Stack**: Selenium WebDriver, JIRA, Git, Jenkins (or similar CI tool), basic scripting in Python/Java, Linux command line, networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols). **Growth Path**: Starting as an Associate QA Engineer, high performers can progress to QA Engineer, Senior QA Engineer, QA Lead and eventually QA Manager or Product Quality Architect. The role also opens doors to specialised tracks such as Performance Engineering, Automation Architecture or DevOps. **Why Join Extreme Networks?** The company offers exposure to cutting‑edge networking technologies used by Fortune‑500 customers, a collaborative culture that encourages learning, and a clear career ladder. Freshers receive mentorship from seasoned engineers, access to internal training platforms and the chance to work on real‑world products that impact global enterprises. Moreover, the β€œBest in Industry” compensation philosophy ensures competitive pay and benefits. Overall, this position is ideal for candidates eager to start a QA career in a fast‑growing tech environment, gain hands‑on experience with automation and CI/CD, and grow alongside a market‑leading networking firm.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between Implicit Wait, Explicit Wait, and Fluent Wait in Selenium? Answer
Model answer: Implicit Wait sets a global timeout for all element lookups. Explicit Wait pauses execution until a specific ExpectedCondition (e.g. elementToBeClickable) is met. Fluent Wait allows defining polling frequency and ignoring specific exceptions like NoSuchElementException.
Explain the Page Object Model (POM) and its advantages in Test Automation. Answer
Model answer: POM is a design pattern that creates an object repository for web UI elements. It separates test scripts from page locators, reducing code duplication and making maintenance easy when UI elements change.
How do you handle dynamic WebElements whose ID changes on page reload? Answer
Model answer: Use dynamic XPath methods like contains(), starts-with(), text(), or XPath axes (ancestor, following-sibling, parent) instead of brittle absolute paths.
What is the difference between @BeforeMethod and @BeforeClass in TestNG? Answer
Model answer: @BeforeClass runs once before the first test method in the current class, while @BeforeMethod executes before each individual test method.
How do you validate REST API response codes and JSON payload using Postman / RestAssured? Answer
Model answer: In RestAssured: given().when().get('/endpoint').then().assertThat().statusCode(200).body('status', equalTo('ACTIVE')).
