About the role

AmberStudent, powered by Keka, is one of India’s fastest‑growing platforms that connects students with verified housing options across major educational hubs. Founded in 2016, the company has built a robust marketplace that leverages technology to simplify the search, booking, and management of student accommodations. With a presence in over 30 cities and a user base of more than 2 million students, AmberStudent has become a trusted brand for both students and property owners.

The organization prides itself on a data‑driven culture, encouraging every team to make decisions backed by insights and AI‑enhanced analytics.

The AI Data Analyst Intern role is designed for fresh graduates who are eager to dive deep into real‑world data problems while working alongside seasoned analysts and product managers. As an intern, you will own end‑to‑end analytical projects that influence business strategy, operational efficiency, and product enhancements. You will be expected to write, debug, and optimise SQL queries, harness AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to accelerate query development, and validate every output manually.

Building interactive dashboards in Tableau or Power BI will be a daily activity, allowing stakeholders to monitor key performance indicators in real time. Additionally, you will experiment with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex to automate repetitive reporting tasks and prototype lightweight analytical utilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own project‑specific analyses for business, operations, or product teams.
  • Write, debug, and optimise SQL queries, using AI assistants to speed up the work while validating results yourself.
  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards in Tableau or Power BI to track key metrics and trends.
  • Leverage AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) and AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to explore data, automate repetitive reporting, and prototype small tools.
  • Identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities in datasets and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver insights that drive decision‑making.
  • Document analytical processes, data pipelines, and dashboard usage guidelines for future reference.
  • Participate in weekly knowledge‑sharing sessions to stay updated on emerging AI‑driven analytics techniques.

Tech Stack: SQL, Tableau / Power BI, Python (optional for scripting), AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini), AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex), Git for version control.

Growth Path: Successful interns can transition into full‑time Data Analyst or Business Intelligence roles, with opportunities to specialise in AI‑augmented analytics, product analytics, or data engineering. The company encourages continuous learning through internal workshops, certifications, and mentorship programs.

Why Join AmberStudent? The internship offers hands‑on exposure to large‑scale data environments, the chance to work with cutting‑edge AI tools, and a supportive culture that values curiosity and innovation. You will be part of a mission‑driven team that directly impacts the student experience across India, making your work both technically challenging and socially rewarding.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between WHERE and HAVING clauses in SQL? Answer
Model answer: WHERE filters rows before any groupings are applied, while HAVING filters aggregated groups after GROUP BY has executed.
Explain SQL Window functions: ROW_NUMBER(), RANK(), and DENSE_RANK(). Answer
Model answer: ROW_NUMBER() assigns unique sequential integers. RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties and skips ranks. DENSE_RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties without skipping rank numbers.
How do you handle NULL and missing values during data cleaning in Python/Pandas? Answer
Model answer: Use .isna().sum() to identify missing values. Impute with mean/median using .fillna() or remove with .dropna(subset=[...]) depending on variance impact.
What is the difference between Star Schema and Snowflake Schema in Data Warehousing? Answer
Model answer: Star Schema has denormalized dimension tables directly connected to the central Fact table. Snowflake Schema normalizes dimension tables into sub-dimensions to minimize redundancy.
How do you calculate MoM (Month-over-Month) growth in SQL? Answer
Model answer: Use LAG(revenue, 1) OVER (ORDER BY month) to fetch the previous month's revenue and compute (revenue - prev_revenue) / prev_revenue * 100.
