About the role

BruntWork is a fast‑growing talent‑partner that connects ambitious startups and established brands with high‑performing remote professionals across India and the globe. With a 4.9/5 rating on both Google and Glassdoor, the firm prides itself on a transparent recruitment process, strong mentorship, and a culture that rewards autonomy and continuous learning. The company’s client base spans fintech, SaaS, and e‑commerce, allowing its talent pool to work on diverse, high‑impact projects while enjoying the flexibility of a work‑from‑home setup.

The role of Accounts Payable & Data Entry Specialist is anchored in the finance operations of a dynamic client that values speed, accuracy, and proactive problem‑solving. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the specialist will spend the majority of time (50‑75%) handling end‑to‑end accounts payable workflows, while also supporting accounts receivable, order entry, and system optimisation initiatives. This hybrid responsibility ensures exposure to the full spectrum of financial transactions and offers a solid foundation for a career in finance or fintech operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices in NetSuite, ensuring correct pre‑population of fields and manual verification of data accuracy.
  • Perform high‑volume data entry with a focus on quality control, flagging discrepancies and coordinating corrections with vendors or internal teams.
  • Generate and dispatch customer invoices, prepare statements, and post cash receipts accurately.
  • Translate incoming purchase orders into internal sales orders, confirm order details, and send order confirmations to customers.
  • Provide actionable feedback on the effectiveness of AP tools such as Bill.com, suggesting improvements or alternatives.
  • Reconcile AP aging reports and assist in month‑end close activities.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (procurement, sales, customer support) to resolve billing or payment issues.
  • Maintain organized documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions.
  • Support ad‑hoc finance projects, including process documentation and workflow automation.
  • Continuously monitor and suggest enhancements to data entry processes to improve speed and accuracy.

Tech Stack: NetSuite (core ERP), Bill.com (invoice automation), Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, basic familiarity with accounting software APIs.

Growth Path: Starting as a specialist, high performers can progress to Senior AP Analyst, Finance Operations Lead, or transition into broader roles such as Financial Analyst or ERP Implementation Consultant within BruntWork’s network of clients.

Why Join: The position offers a permanent work‑from‑home arrangement, immediate hiring, health insurance coverage, and the chance to work with a small, high‑impact team where your ideas directly shape processes. The flexible schedule aligns with US Pacific time but also accommodates East Coast collaboration, making it ideal for candidates seeking global exposure while staying based in India.

Technical questions 5
What is the difference between WHERE and HAVING clauses in SQL? Answer
Model answer: WHERE filters rows before any groupings are applied, while HAVING filters aggregated groups after GROUP BY has executed.
Explain SQL Window functions: ROW_NUMBER(), RANK(), and DENSE_RANK(). Answer
Model answer: ROW_NUMBER() assigns unique sequential integers. RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties and skips ranks. DENSE_RANK() assigns identical ranks to ties without skipping rank numbers.
How do you handle NULL and missing values during data cleaning in Python/Pandas? Answer
Model answer: Use .isna().sum() to identify missing values. Impute with mean/median using .fillna() or remove with .dropna(subset=[...]) depending on variance impact.
What is the difference between Star Schema and Snowflake Schema in Data Warehousing? Answer
Model answer: Star Schema has denormalized dimension tables directly connected to the central Fact table. Snowflake Schema normalizes dimension tables into sub-dimensions to minimize redundancy.
How do you calculate MoM (Month-over-Month) growth in SQL? Answer
Model answer: Use LAG(revenue, 1) OVER (ORDER BY month) to fetch the previous month's revenue and compute (revenue - prev_revenue) / prev_revenue * 100.
