Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Packt Publishing is a global technical learning publisher that helps IT professionals put software to work in new ways. With more than 400 employees spread across India and the UK, Packt offers a catalogue of over 8,000 books, video courses and learning pathways that are used by individuals, enterprises and educational institutions worldwide. The company’s mission revolves around delivering high‑quality, up‑to‑date learning content, licensing material from independent creators, and constantly expanding its digital footprint across a variety of distribution channels.
The role of Content Distribution Executive – Level 1 sits within the Content Distribution team and reports to the Publishing and Video Distribution Manager. It is a hands‑on, technical position that ensures Packt’s digital products – books, videos and courses – are published on the Packt website and pushed to partner platforms on schedule. The executive will act as a bridge between the licensing team, product owners and external channel partners, guaranteeing that every piece of content meets quality standards, is correctly tagged with metadata, and remains available to learners across the ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Publish books, videos and courses on the Packt portal according to planned timelines.
2. Distribute content to channel partners (e.g., e‑learning marketplaces, corporate libraries) while adhering to SLA commitments.
3. Maintain and update distribution guidelines, workflows and metadata schemas.
4. Conduct quality‑assurance checks to ensure 100 % compliance with packaging standards (SCORM, LMS compatibility, API contracts).
5. Monitor product availability on partner platforms and reconcile any discrepancies.
6. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to onboard new partners and train internal staff on processes.
7. Troubleshoot integration issues, API failures and content‑delivery problems.
8. Proactively research emerging distribution technologies and suggest process improvements.
9. Handle multiple concurrent requests from various channels while keeping accurate records.
10. Generate regular reports on distribution performance and product reach.
Technical stack: SCORM packaging, LMS platforms, RESTful APIs, basic scripting for automation, metadata management tools, and familiarity with content‑delivery networks. The role offers a clear growth path – high‑performing executives can move to Senior Distribution Manager, then to Head of Content Partnerships, or transition into product‑management tracks within Packt.
Why join Packt? The company promotes a remote‑first culture, flexible working hours, and a supportive learning environment. Employees receive a competitive bonus scheme, five‑day work week, 25 days of annual leave, group medical insurance and regular training/certification opportunities. Packt’s emphasis on personal development, open idea‑sharing and a healthy work‑life balance makes it an attractive place for fresh graduates eager to start a career in digital publishing and technology‑driven content distribution.
