About the role

Paytm is India’s leading mobile payments and financial services platform, founded in 2010 and now serving over half a billion users. The company pioneered QR‑code based payments and has built an ecosystem that includes wallets, banking, lending, and merchant services. With a mission to bring every Indian into the mainstream economy, Paytm continuously invests in technology, data analytics, and a high‑velocity growth culture. Its rapid expansion across payments, commerce, and financial products creates a constant demand for talent across all business functions. The Talent Acquisition Intern – Non‑Tech role sits within Paytm’s HR team and focuses on sourcing, screening, and coordinating candidates for business, sales, operations, and corporate functions. Reporting to senior recruiters, the intern will get hands‑on exposure to end‑to‑end recruitment processes in a high‑volume fintech environment. The role blends traditional recruitment activities with modern AI‑enabled sourcing tools, giving the intern a chance to experiment with automation while learning the nuances of candidate experience. Key Responsibilities: 1. Leverage job portals, LinkedIn, campus databases, and internal talent pools to source qualified non‑technical candidates. 2. Conduct initial resume screening and phone interviews to evaluate fit, communication skills, and role alignment. 3. Manage interview scheduling, candidate communications, and logistics across multiple time zones. 4. Keep the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and internal trackers updated with accurate candidate status. 5. Perform market mapping and talent research to support recruiter search strategies for niche roles. 6. Utilize AI‑driven search prompts and Boolean strings to accelerate candidate discovery. 7. Draft personalized outreach messages and follow‑up emails using AI writing assistants. 8. Summarize candidate profiles and generate quick reference notes for hiring managers. 9. Assist in creating recruitment dashboards and weekly pipeline reports. 10. Contribute ideas for process automation, such as chat‑bots or email sequencing, to improve throughput. Tech Stack & Tools: The internship will involve using Paytm’s internal ATS, LinkedIn Recruiter, Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides), Microsoft Office, and AI tools like ChatGPT or Jasper for content generation. Familiarity with basic data visualization (Google Data Studio) and automation platforms (Zapier, Power Automate) is a plus. Growth Path: Successful interns often transition to full‑time HR Analyst or Recruiter positions within Paytm, gaining exposure to strategic workforce planning, employer branding, and talent analytics. The role provides a solid foundation for a career in talent acquisition, HR operations, or people analytics. Why Join Paytm? Paytm offers a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment where interns can see the direct impact of their work on business growth. The company’s strong brand, extensive product suite, and commitment to innovation make it an ideal place to develop recruitment expertise while working alongside seasoned HR professionals. Moreover, the exposure to AI‑enabled hiring tools equips interns with future‑ready skills that are highly valued across the industry.

Technical questions 4
What is the bias-variance tradeoff and how do you prevent overfitting? Answer
Model answer: High bias leads to underfitting (oversimplified model), high variance leads to overfitting (captures noise). Mitigate using L1/L2 Regularization, Dropout, Cross-Validation, and data augmentation.
Explain the difference between Precision, Recall, and F1-Score. Answer
Model answer: Precision = TP / (TP + FP) (correctness of positive predictions). Recall = TP / (TP + FN) (coverage of actual positives). F1-Score is the harmonic mean of Precision and Recall.
How does Gradient Descent work and what is the role of Learning Rate? Answer
Model answer: It optimizes loss functions by iteratively moving weights in the direction of negative gradient. A large learning rate may overshoot the minimum; a small rate causes slow convergence.
What is the difference between Supervised, Unsupervised, and Self-Supervised learning? Answer
Model answer: Supervised uses labeled data (X -> y). Unsupervised finds hidden patterns in unlabeled data (clustering/PCA). Self-supervised generates labels from input data (e.g. masked language modeling in BERT/Transformers).
